%X Une table ronde organisée par le Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique a rassemblé à Montpellier en janvier 1986 des chercheurs en sciences sociales, surtout des géographes, et des administrateurs de la recherche, autour du thème « la recherche scientifique, enjeu du développement régional ? ». L'article résume les contributions des trois ateliers, centrés sur : Faut-il spécialiser le système régional de recherche ? L'innovation scientifique et technique irrigue-t-elle les régions ? Qu'attendent de la recherche les acteurs locaux et régionaux ?

Social science researchers and research managers debated on : « Is scientific research at stake in regional environment and planning ? ». This paper gathers and sums up contributions from three workshops focused on : « Should a regional component of research activity be favoured ? », « Is scientific and technological innovation a source of regional development ? », « What do local and regional planners and managers expect from scientific research ? ».
