Biodiversity in terrestrial ecosystems is declining due to increasing anthropogenic pressure. Urban and agricultural expansion lead to shrinking natural or seminatural habitats. In addition, management intensification of existing agricultural land further reduces the quality of agroecosystems as habitat for many species.
