Description:
Diensthund, Hund, Maulkorb
The expression behavior and cortisol scores of 123 service dogs were compared in three different situations (lie down (N = 103), city walk (N = 51) and guard service (N = 35)) with and without muzzle. In addition, the behavior of pedestrians was compared to dogs with and without a muzzle. According to this study, the use of the muzzle in the police work generated in service dogs no additional stress and is often an irreplaceable tool. Passers-by showed no sign of increased fear or alertness to a muzzle-bearing dog. -
