<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>An expedient two‐step synthesis of [<jats:sup>13</jats:sup>C<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>]DMSO, starting from commercially available [<jats:sup>13</jats:sup>C]methyl iodide, is described. The product obtained in 57% yield is of high chemical (≥ 99%) and isotopic purity (= 98% <jats:sup>13</jats:sup>C<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>, 2% <jats:sup>13</jats:sup>C<jats:sub>1</jats:sub>), as jugded by NMR‐spectroscopy and a GC‐MS‐assay.</jats:p>
