Beschreibung:
This work analyzes the narrators in Ovid's Metamorphoses, using methods from narratology and reception theory. A detailed interpretation of the text shows that Ovid has constructed his narrators in an inconsistent way. As a result, narration in the Metamorphoses breaks with traditional forms of epic narration: Ovid's narrators are more enigmatic and more present in the text, and are often lacking omniscience, objectivity, reliability, and even narrative authority
