<jats:p><jats:bold>Reactivity and catalytic properties</jats:bold>–are there analogies between metal clusters and metal surfaces here too? In the 1980s the conclusion had been reached that such analogies could only be formulated about structure and bonding. But new work from Yates et al. and Chisholm et al. has given rise to new hope. They studied CO dissociation on sparsely covered Mo surfaces and in tetranuclear tungsten clusters, respectively. These reactions proceed in a similar fashion; however, their rate‐determining steps and reaction rates differ.</jats:p>
