  • Beschreibung: <jats:p> The extraintestinal pathogenic <jats:named-content content-type="genus-species">Escherichia coli</jats:named-content> group is characterized by the presence of uropathogenic <jats:named-content content-type="genus-species">E. coli</jats:named-content> (UPEC), sepsis-associated <jats:named-content content-type="genus-species">E. coli</jats:named-content> (SEPEC), and neonatal meningitis <jats:named-content content-type="genus-species">E. coli</jats:named-content> (NMEC). All of these members exhibit many virulence factors, such as lipopolysaccharides, toxins, iron acquisition factors, invasins, fimbriae, and capsules. </jats:p>
