The World Health Organization has sounded the alarm: Big Food, the multi-national food industry, is even more dangerous than the tobacco and alcohol industries. The major food corporations have started to conquer poor countries and press disease-causing junk food on malnourished mothers and their children - instant noodles, cookies, potato chips, soft drinks rich in sugar. The result: a pandemic of obesity - in China alone 1.3 million people died of diabetes in 2016. Undoubtedly Big Food reaps huge profits at the expense of the poorest of the poor. This must be combated - but how? Thomas Kruchem uncovers how Big Food profits from emergency relief and muzzles critics, how the big corporations finance UN organizations, relief organizations such as Oxfam as well as scientists with millions of dollars.
