  • Description: The spliceosome is a highly dynamic megadalton ribonucleoprotein (RNP) complex that catalyses the removal of introns from eukaryotic precursor messenger RNA (pre mRNA) in two consecutive transesterification reactions. The spliceosome is assembled de novo on each pre-mRNA intron by the sequential recruitment of five RNA protein complexes (snRNPs) and numerous non snRNP factors in a dynamic manner, driven by numerous DExH/D box ATPases or RNA helicases.
