Die durch einen choliambischen Prolog eingeleiteten Hexametersatiren des Persius (1. Jh. n. Chr.) vereinen den traditionellen Gesellschaftsbezug der Gattung mit dem ideellen Anspruch philosophischer Ethik zu einer ebenso individuellen wie fruchtbaren Synthese. Bei der Neukonstitution des Textes wird das Abhängigkeitsverhältnis der einzelnen Handschriften und ihr daraus resultierender Überlieferungswert neu bestimmt. Das Corpus der Persiusscholien wird dabei erstmals auf der Basis der jüngst erfolgten wissenschaftlichen Erstedition systematisch als Überlieferungsträger ausgewertet.
The satires of Persius (1st century AD), composed in hexameters with a prologue in choliambics, combine the traditional social reference of the genre with the ideal demands of philosophical ethics to create an individual and fruitful synthesis. This new edition of the text reassesses the dependences and relationships of the individual manuscripts, and their resulting value in the transmission of the text, while the role of the Persius scholia in the transmission receives its first systematic analysis on the basis of the recent first scholarly edition of the corpus.
