    Background and objectives: Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, MV) is a region that can score with the quality and diversity of its landscape. But here, too, just as in the entire Federal Republic of Germany, the public has to cope with the lack of health and care professionals. In terms of the latter, the aim of this paper was to analyse what morale, expectations and future plans (the subject fields in this paper) young adults have during their vocational training in health and nursing before the generalised nursing training becomes effective. Methods: The study followed the research approach of triangulation which includes quantitative and qualitative survey methods. A written survey was conducted in 2015 with 78 students (70.5% female) in the third year of their training at the Vocational School of the University Medicine Greifswald and its external vocational college in Wolgast. Of those surveyed, 35 also participated in problem-centered interviews. Results: The scales morale, fulfillment of expectations, demands, expectations and future plans were determined by exploratory principal components analysis and reflect the results at the variables level collectively. As a whole they show quite positive figures (mean values) between 1.29 and 2.31 (“1” is the most positive response and “4” representing the least positive response of the respective scale).
