Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) are structures composed of chromatin and antimicrobial molecules that capture and kill pathogens. This study aimed to compare NET formation between neonates and healthy adults. We observed a lower NET formation in term infants compared to healthy adults in both NET area and percentage as well as a further reduced ability to form NETs in preterm neonates.
