Hüftgelenk, Alpha-Winkel, CCD-Winkel, Center-Edge Winkel, Femurkopfdurchmesser, Triangulärer Index
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to establish normal values for the alpha angle, the center-edge angle and the neck-shaft angle in the normal adult hip by using MRI. Moreover, associations to age, sex, and anthropometric variables (body height, body weight, BMI and waist circumference) were assessed. Methods: 3226 MRI images of the Study of Health in Pomerania (SHIP) were used. SHIP is a population-based epidemiologic study. The participants were recruited as a stratified cluster sample of the population from Pomerania. Results: The mean center-edge angle was 31° (SD 7°), the mean alpha angle was 55° (SD 8°) and the mean neck-shaft angle was 127° (SD 7). Various associatons were present, so sex- and age-adjusted normal values were calculated. Conclusion: The range of normal center-edge, alpha angle and neck-shaft agle is quite wide. Many associations occured, so associations with age, sex, and anthropometric factors should be taken into account for better interpretation.
