Seit Einführung der Entgeltabrechnung nach Fallpauschalen in den Jahren 2002/2003 sehen sich Krankenhäuser enormen wirtschaftlichen Herausforderungen gegenüber. Das erhöhte bisher und erhöht fortwährend den Druck auf das Management und das Controlling von Unternehmen der Im Allgemeinen und Krankenhäuser im Speziellen. Allerdings muss festgestellt werden, dass das Controlling in Krankenhäusern noch nicht so etabliert ist wie in anderen Bereichen. Eine große Herausforderung ist der zu harmonisierende Dreiklang aus Elementen der Betriebswirtschaftslehre, den modernen Entwicklungen in der Informationstechnologie und der komplexen medizinischen Leistungserstellung. Dabei gerät man unweigerlich auf den schmalen Grat zwischen medizinischer Notwendigkeit und wirtschaftlichem Handeln. Dieses Werk zeigt Managern im Krankenhausumfeld auf, wie sie mit modernen Methoden der Business Intelligence und des Controllings diesen Grat entscheidend entschärfen.
Organisations in the healthcare sector have faced lots of challenges since Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG) were introduced in Germany in 2002/2003. An important point to realise is that the power of controlling in those organisations has not been as fully unleashed as in other businesses. The greatest challenge is to merge the needs of business administration issues and the latest developments in information technology with healthcare itself. Consequently, the management bodies of German hospitals have come under increasing pressure to align the care of patients on the one hand with economic values on the other. This book shows the management and controlling bodies of healthcare companies a feasible way to overcome the gap between both in order to improve their performance and meet this particular challenge with a modern toolset of business intelligence solutions.
