  • Description: "The plant diversity of the vascular plants in a small densely settled streetquaterin one of the Wilhelmine quarters of Braunschweig was investigated over 5 years. It covered front yards, patiosas well as the sponta-neous flora. A high phytodiversity of 349 taxa (mostly in species rank) hasbeen found within an area of 1,34 hawhich is sealedor build on by up to 2/3. The spontaneous ones are 208, cultivated ones are 141. The most important micro habitats ofthe streetquaterare front yards and tree slices, whereas the species turnover ofthe tree slices is remarkable. The reasons for this turn over are occasional weed control, import of new substrates as well as good establishing possibilities." (Abstract)
