  • Description: Strong artificial selections of canine morphological and behavioral traits lead to the formation of more than 400 modern dog (Canis familiaris, CFA) breeds within the past 300 years. Most dog breeds are derived from small numbers of founders, and this closed genetic pool within each breed results in the high frequency of occurrence of canine congenital disorders.
