  • Description: The article presents modification of standardization of variables values introducing the formulas for reference boundary system. This system is understood as a set of restrictions imposed on the values of the variables adopted for the linear ordering of a set of objects in economics (eg banks). The source of the set of restrictions imposed on the values of the variables are: the theory of economics, researcher knowledge, experience and intuition all as the expert opinions. These limits are called veto thresholds, they allow to specify the minimum level of satisfaction according to the banks. Standardization procedures in the reference boundary system reflect the typology of variables into stimulants, destimulants and nominants and define for each type of variable appropriate formula suitable for normalization. The proposed test procedure has been empirically tested on the basis of data from the Polish banking sector
