  • Description: This paper has as objective to describe the genesis of an experience of communitarian tourism in Tralcao (City of San Jose de la Mariquina, Chile) emerged from Agenda 21 of Region Los Rios, between 2004 and 2008. This paper is characterized as descriptive, over all of procedural stages that were managed since Agenda 21 until the ecotourism project, result of participative research-action that is in course in the Community of Tralcao Mapu. After four years of work, the community comes organizing itself and taking conscience of potentialities of the approach of the communitarian tourism as strategy of social communication to conserve the life ways mapuche-huilliche, even if these were disproved of authentic Indian characteristics yet, as well as to preserve the biodiversity of the Sanctuary of the Nature Carlos Anwandter, result of interactions between teach, search and extension
