  • Description: We estimate the impact of external financial support on the labor supply of students during their tertiary education. Using dynamic labor supply models and accounting for the endogeneity of transfer income and academic performance, we find a significantly smaller likelihood of working for transfer recipients. Our results suggest that transfers affect the time allocation of students asymmetrically, lowering their hours of work but not necessarily increasing their time devoted to studying. We find evidence for a psychological component of receiving transfers through an increase in study-related stress levels
