  • Description: Cytotoxic Lymphocytes (CTL) and Natural Killer (NK) cells provide the body with a powerful defence against viral infection, intracellular pathogens and tumor development. After identifying an infected or damaged cell, CTL/NK cells kill their targets by two main pathways involving either the ligation of death receptors or the granule exocytosis pathway. In the granule pathway, CTL/NK cells transfer a battery of death proteases called granzymes to the target cell cytoplasm. ; TARA (Trinity?s Access to Research Archive) has a robust takedown policy.
