  • Description: The present thesis work is focused on the synthesis and characterization of new heterobinuclear complexes derived from partially aklylated s-indacene such as [LM-s-Ic`- M`L`]q+ where(i)L≠L';L=Cp*;L`=CO;(ii)L=L`=Cp*;and(iii)L=L=CO;M≠ M`= Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Ru, Rh; q+ = 0, 1, with the purpouse of predicting behavior rules for these organometallic systems and their potential applications in catalytic systems. In order to understand the behavior of the electronic properties which allow the intermetallic communication in these mixed valence heterobinuclear systems, cyclic voltammetry experiments, UV-Vis-NIR and FT-IR, 57Fe-Mössbauer, with also Multinuclear NMR spectroscopic experiments, as well as studies of X-Ray crystallographic structures were carried out to better characterize these novel molecules as well as enabling the understanding of the electronic, supported by DFT qualitative theoretical computer-assisted simulations. The synthesis of the heterobinuclear complexes such as [(CO)3Mn-s-Ic`-MCp*], was carried out by means of the synthetic reaction condensing the mononuclear manganese complex MnBr(CO)3(py)2 with 1,5-dihydro-2,6-diethyl-4,8-dimethyl-s-indacene. Secondly, a reaction with the respective metallic fragment containing Fe, Co, Ni and Ru followed up the previous step. The formation of the mixed valence systems was done using ferricinium salts as a mild one-electron oxidizing agent. The synthesis of the heterobinuclear complexes such as [Cp*Fe-s-Ic`-MCp*], was carried out by means of the synthetic reaction condensing the mononuclear iron complex Cp*Fe(acac) with dihydro-s-indacene. Secondly, a reaction with the respective metallic fragment containing Co, Ni and Ru followed up the previous step. The formation of the mixed valence systems was done using ferricinium salts as a mild one-electron oxidizing agent. The formation of the wholly carbonylated heterobinuclear complex, [(CO)3Mn-s- Ic`-Rh(CO)2], was carried out condensing the mononuclear manganese complex with the metallic fragment [Rh(μ-Cl)(η4-COD)]2, to later increase the CO partial pressure within the reaction system to remove the COD ligand. Asymmetrical systems working with metals of the same group and metals of different groups, the systems will be localized. Symmetrical" system working with metals of the same group, the system will be delocalized, moreover if we use metals of different groups, the system will be localized. The first heterobinuclear carbonyl complex derivative of s-indacene has been synthesized with potential applications in catalytic systems.
