  • Description: Six lanthanide-containing complexes, with the structural formula of [Ln 4 (acac) 4 (L) 6 ( μ 3 -OH) 2 ]·m(CH 3 CN) (m= 2 for Ln = Lu ( 1 ); m= 0 for Ln = Eu ( 2 ); m= 1 for Ln = Er ( 3 ); m= 8 for Ln = Yb ( 4 )), [Eu 4 (dbm) 4 (L) 6 ( μ 3 -OH) 2 ]·CH 3 CN ( 5 ) and [Yb 2 (dbm) 4 (L) 2 ]·2CH 3 CN ( 6 ), were obtained and characterized by X-ray single crystal structure determination, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) and thermogravimetric analysis (HL = 5-(2-furanimino)-8-hydroxylquinoline). The solid-state near-infrared fluorescence was also tested. Complex 3 emits characteristic near-infrared luminescence of the corresponding Er 3+ ions when excited by ultraviolet spectrum of 350 nm, which demonstrates the efficient energy transfer from the excited triplet states of the ligands to the central Er 3+ ions
