  • Description: In order to cope with the increasingly severe air pollution problem around the world, all countries have adopted corresponding environmental regulation policies, which will further affect the green behavior and performance of micro enterprises. In this paper, we use the panel data of Chinese industrial enterprise to examine the impact of the “Two Control Zone” (TCZ) policy on enterprise green performance. We found that the implementation of environmental regulation such as the “Two Control Zone” (TCZ) can significantly improve the green performance of enterprises, and the improvement effect is more significant with the policy refinement. Most importantly, enterprises realize cleaner production mainly through the transformation of energy consumption structure, and the improvement of production process is the main way to improve the enterprise green performance. Under the pressure of rising emission reduction costs, enterprises in acid rain control zone, state-owned enterprises and large enterprises are more capable of improving enterprise green performance
