  • Description: A triazine-based polymer hybrid carbonizing agent containing SiO2 (MCA-K-SiO2) was synthesized and used in combination with aluminum diethyl hypophosphite (AlPi) to improve the flame retardancy of thermoplastic polyester elastomer (TPEE). Using limited oxygen index, vertical combustion test, cone calorimetry test, thermogravimetric analysis method to study the flame retardant performance and thermal stability of TPEE composite materials. The results show that, compared with AlPi/MCA-K/SiO2, AlPi/MCA-K-SiO2 can improve the flame retardancy of TPEE. The composition and morphology of the carbon residue were studied by Fourier infrared spectroscopy (FTIR and) scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results of the two tests show that, compared with MCA-K/SiO2, MCA-K-SiO2 can form a denser and continuous expanded carbon layer, so it can improve the flame retardancy of TPEE composites. The compactness of the carbon layer is due to the expanded carbon layer formed by the polymer on the surface containing -Si-C- and -Si-O-Si-. At the same time, MCA-K-SiO2 releases NH3 and N2 during the heating process, thereby reducing the concentration of combustibles in the combustion zone and increasing the expansion of the expanded carbon layer
