Description:
This paper examines the notion of cyclicality in cryptocurrency prices, notably in the context of declines and persistent low prices during what are sometimes called “crypto winters.” This raises questions about the claims of cryptocurrencies as sentiment-driven, acyclical, and hedge-based instruments.
