  • Description: One of the upshots of categorification constructions in representation theory is a nice stock of examples of actions of groups (e.g. braid groups) on triangulated categories. The goal of this talk will be to explain how, following an analogy with the study of mapping class groups of surfaces via Teichmuller theory, such categorical constructions can be used to study the groups themselves
