Neuroendokrine Tumoren des Thymus sind sehr seltene Neoplasien. Als nächstverwandte Tumorgruppe gelten die neuroendokrinen Tumoren der Lunge. Beide werden nach den gleichen Kriterien in die vier Subtypen typisches Karzinoid, atypisches Karzinoid, großzelliges neuroendokrines Karzinom und kleinzelliges (Lungen-)Karzinom eingeteilt. Neuroendocrine tumours of the thymus are very rare neoplasms. The closest related group of tumours are neuroendocrine tumours of the lung. Both are classified using the same criteria into four subtypes: typical carcinoid, atypical carcinoid, large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma and small cell (lung) carcinoma.
