French Abstract: Sur les mandats de la S.d.N. il existe une bibliographie immense, qui n’a peut-être d’égale que celle sur la Société elle-même. A certains égards, de par l’ampleur des droits et obligations établis par l’article 22, ce dernier peut être considéré comme un traité à part entière, instituant un régime et des mécanismes institutionnels particulièrement complexes. Preuve en est que, lors de la Conférence de paix à Paris, il fut envisagé d’insérer les mandats dans les traités de paix eux-mêmes. Ce commentaire poursuit le but d'examiner en profondeur cette importante institution de la Société des Nations en filigrane aussi de du système de l'administration sous tutelle qui sera introduit par l'Organisation des Nations Unies
English Abstract: With regard to the League of Nations Mandates there exists a huge bibliography. Article 22 of the Covenant of the League of Nations is one of the pivotal provisions of the international treaty which established the predecessor of the UNO. It is at this point important that it was even envisaged to draft a separate treaties embodying this unprecedented system of international administration of territories. This chapter of a comprehensive commentary of the Covenant of the League of Nations dwell upon the Mandates of the League of Nations (Article 22 of the Covenant) extensively drawing on scientific literature, international and municipal jurisprudence as well as State and international organization's practice. A the same time, it examines the system of the League of Nations Mandates against the backdrop of the system of trusteeships established by the successor of the League of Nations, that is to say UNO
