  • Description: Karnataka is a large state in South India with an area of about 200,000 square kilometres and a population of about 53 million. It has a long and rich cultural, social, and economic history, a diverse population, a variety of natural resources, a very strong industrial and technological base, and a good primary, secondary and tertiary education infrastructure. It constituted the Karnataka Knowledge Commission (KKC) to mobilize efforts for its transformation into a knowledge society. The initial tenure of KKC was three years; it has now been renewed. The paper is a retrospective assessment of the commission based on the official reports and reviews at the end of its initial tenure based on an ontological framework with the triple helix model at its core
