  • Description: English Abstract:  The outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war is posing challenges to global food security, disrupting local food production and global trade. This study uses CGE model to simulate the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war on global food security, with the particular focus on the impact on the agro-food sectors in some vulnerable food-importing nations and regions. The simulations take into account the reduction of Ukraine’s food production and the bans on food and fertilizer exports as the “shocks” in the modeling. The results show that Ukraine’s economy experiences a significant decline. The food-importing nations and regions face rising food prices, which also causes pressure on inflation. This study sheds light on the needs to establish strategic food reserve to address food insecurity
