  • Description: Organizational agility and decision-making are critical in today’s dynamic business environment, but overemphasis on hierarchy and bureaucracy can hinder both. This article presents the find- ings of a study that examined the negative impact of overemphasis on hierarchy and bureaucracy on organizational agility and decision-making. Results showed that organizations that empha- size bureaucracy and hierarchy experienced slower decision-making processes and were less agile than those that did not. This article discusses the implications of the study for organizations and suggests ways to mitigate the negative impact of overemphasis on hierarchy and bureaucracy on agility and decision-making
