  • Description: Upon myocardial infarction, the natural healing response triggers the fibroblast-to-myofibroblast transition (FMT). Through this process, fibroblasts acquire a myofibroblast phenotype by which they present increased mobility, contractility, and capacity to produce components of the extracellular matrix.
