  • Description: We investigate how the use of AI technlogies scales within a global sample of most global corporations. In particular, we find a superstar effect whereby only the top quartile of firms generate significant rents of out their investment in AI technologies. Lookingnext at what discriminates those superstar firms versus the fringe, a large set of features emerges, in line with a better process of AI transformation, and a better hedge against competition in the AI race.Specifically, superstar firms are better organizationally fit to AI, and have a culture of innovations. They are also more competitive, and have access to a large breadth of complementary resources/ capabilities , of which better human capital, and AI skills, and a more powerfuul access to an AI ready data architecture
