  • Description: Following corporate governance endorsement of demographic diversity of ownership and control through Black economy empowerment programme in South Africa; this study analysis impacts of managerial ownership on firm performance and implementation of demographic diversity of ownership and control of South Africa listed firms. This study finds that managers who hold both managerial and ownership positions enhanced firm performance of listed firms in a multifaceted approach government policy to diversity of management, ownership, and control in South Africa. Yet, such managerial ownership and control roles is not optimal approach to promote the black economic empowerment programme in support of corporate governance practices in South Africa. This study emphasizes the importance of the institutional framework in the corporate environment while examining the relationships among managerial ownership, firm performance, and corporate governance practices
