  • Description: The climate-conflict literature theorizes that climate change acts as a threat multiplier that either through a series of processes or feedback loops lead to terrorism. I focus on the targets of terrorism and why terrorists target specific groups. I argue that how insecure an individual feels because of climate change produces incentives for terrorists to exploit climate-induced vulnerabilities. Using the round 7 survey from the Afrobarometer, I test the relationship between perceptions of climate change and terrorism. My results find a weak linkage between climate insecurity and terrorist targeting preferences
