Argentina characterizes for being a country with a noticeable heterogeneity (relative dif ferences in characteristics and sizes) and in equality (development leve!) of the regions that compase it. Following different studies that have looked for to classify this phenom enon, it is possible to group the national territory in three areas: Central area (located in the center-east of the country, around it is k nown as Humid Pampas and whose nu cleus constitutes the city of Buenos Aires), outlying area (that occupies the north and center-west of the territory) and uninhab ited arca ( basically thc patagonic rcgion ). From this pcrspcctive of analysis, sorne so cial, political and economic processes are approached from the stage of the construc tion of the State I\ation in this work, to the present time that give bill of the dcvclop ment, characteristics and articulation he tween these arcas.
La Argentina se caracteriza por ser un país con una marcada heterogeneidad ( diferen cias en características y tamaños relativos) y desigualdad (nivel de desarrollo) de las re giones que lo componen. Siguiendo dife rentes estudios que han buscado clasificar este fenómeno, es posible agrupar el terri torio nacional en tres áreas: Área central (ubicada en el centro-este del país alrededor de lo que se conoce como Pampa Húmeda y cuyo núcleo lo constituye la ciudad de Buenos Aires), área periférica (que ocupa el norte y centro-oeste del territorio) y área despoblada (básicamente la región patagó nica). Desde esta perspectiva de análisis, en este trabajo se abordan algunos procesos so ciales, políticos y económicos desde la eta- pa de la edificación del Estado Nación hasta nuestros días que dan cuenta del desarrollo, características y articulación entre dichas áreas.
