Die Beiträge dieses Sammelbandes gehen auf eine Internationale Konferenz an der Universität Hamburg zurück.Es geht in den Beiträgen um die Ausdehnung des Narratologie-Begriffs auf nichtliterarische Untersuchungsfelder. Aus transdisziplinärer Perspektive werden Phänomene des "Erzählens" z. B. in Computerspielen, in der Musik, in der Geschichtsschreibung und in der Psychologie untersucht. Die "Narratologie" wird somit als kulturwissenschaftliche Fundamentaldisziplin erwiesen, deren Instrumentarium geeignet ist, narrative Prozesse auch jenseits der Literatur zu untersuchen
