  • Description: Starting from a nonlinear dislocation energy we derive a line tension model via ..-convergence. Specifically, compactness is obtained by means of a uniform rigidity estimate in nonsimply-connected domains. The lower bound follows by a decomposition of the domain into suitably chosen annuli and then performing a linearization of the energy in each annulus. Finally, the upper bound is proven by explicit construction.
