Description:
Vera Lauf's book attempts to get the bottom of the meaning of "modernism" and "modern art" holds for contemporary art. Dorit Margreiter, florian Pumhösl, and Paulina Olowska present central positions on this subject. They focus on the aspects of "space", "representation" and "subject", thus pointing to three essential concepts that have decisively influenced the field of art since the onset of Modernism and continue to betranslated into new perspectives. This study shows that currently, crucial impulses for a revaluation of Modernism emanate less from art history studies and more from artistic praxis - it is conceived as a many-faceted, complex space of negotiation
