  • Description: A landscape is far more than just a view. It is charged with history, with politics and ideas that cut deep into our awareness. Mariele Neudecker’s work keeps returning to the landscape tradition in art, but through this she deals with questions around placement, collective experience and memory. Neudecker is very interested in our perception of the world and how we hold on, re-create and memorize these experiences.Through the use of a broad range of media including sculpture, installation, film and photography, she examines what defines the line between nature and landscape, and reflects on how to define the contemporary sublime. Her practice investigates the formation and historical dissemination of cultural constructs around the natural world, focusing particularly on landscape representations within the Northern European Romantic tradition. The exhibition at Trondheim Kunstmuseum is the largest presentation of her works to date, and the second where international artists are placed in the full context of the museum collection. These exhibitions are tools for us at the museum to come to grips with our collection, and a challenge for the visitors to continuously find new meanings and possibilities in the displays. 00Exhibition: Trondheim Kunstmuseum, Norway (16.2.-15.9.2013)
