  • Description: This work deals with the mathematical analysis of some fluid-elastic structure interaction problems. More precisely, we study the flow of a viscous incompressible fluid in a cylindrical tube with flexible walls. Under the influence of the fluid (and possibly of some exterior forces, too), the elastic wall undergoes some deformations which induce a change in the fluid domain. This in turn has an influence on the interface between the two media and leads again to deformation. This is a typical situation in haemodynamics, where the flow of blood in arteries and veins is studied, toghether with the behavior of blood vessels under the influence of the blood flow. We analyse both the stationary and the time dependent case; the fluid is always supposed to flow in a three dimensional domain (possibly reduced to a 2D one, by symmetry considerations) and the elastic structure may be a thick shell (in the stationary case), an elastic plate or a cylindrical membrane (when time dependence is accounted for)
