  • Description: Dislocations in tin-disulphide occur as widely dissociated ribbons, proving that the stacking-fault energy is very small. The geometry of possible stacking faults is discussed and the energy of the different faults is compared. lt is shown that the proximity of the surface influences visibly the ribbon widths. From the presence of threefold ribbons it is concluded that two different glide planes are operative in this substance ; in one of them glide takes place by a synchro-shear movement. A detailed study is made of possible intersections ofribbons resulting in the formation of extended jogs. On movement, such jogs produce trails.
