<jats:p>Interaction second virial coefficients of some binary gas mixtures are higher than either of the pure component values within certain temperature ranges. For other systems and temperature ranges the interaction second virial coefficient is lower than the pure component values. Conditions under which these situations may occur are investigated in terms of the intermolecular potentials and force constants, and examples from literature experimental data are given.</jats:p>
