Description:
This calculation applies the theory of Zimm to the problem of the partial draining of Gaussian coils. Zimm's free-draining eigenfunctions are assumed to be sufficiently accurate as eigenfunctions in the nondraining limit, and the function required for the intrinsic viscosity is tabulated as a function of a draining parameter in a manner similar to that of Kirkwood and Riseman. The use of a scaling factor as proposed by Kurata and Yamakawa is shown to give low results with a maximum error of the order of 10%. The first relaxation time is tabulated and found to be a rather weak function of the draining parameter.
