During this time, the program's systems engineering moved from a document‐driven to a model‐based approach. Factors associated with making this change are discussed by members of the team that helped with the implementation. Also discussed are what we feel to be the benefits of a model‐based approach, lessons learned, and suggestions for projects considering such an approach.
