Description:
Formylimine versus Isocyanate — an Unusual Tautomerism of a Trifluoroalanine Derivative
The intermediate 7a formed by hydrogen chloride elimination of 6 can easily tautomerize to the isolable isocyanate 7b. Depending on the reaction conditions nucleophiles react with 7a and 7b to give the corresponding products 8 or 9, respectively.
