  • Description: <jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>Covalently bound polymeric cobalt chelates <jats:bold>5</jats:bold> of Co(salen) type were synthesized by copolymerization of 2‐hydroxy‐5‐vinylbenzaldehyde (<jats:bold>2</jats:bold>) with 4‐vinylpyridine and subsequent polymeranalogous reactions. Coordinatively bound polymeric chelates <jats:bold>6</jats:bold> were obtained from Co(salen) and poly(4‐vinylpyridine) or its copolymer with styrene. Dioxygen binding studies (volumetric measurements and ESR spectroscopy) revealed that mononuclear superoxo complexes are formed reversibly.</jats:p>
