Description:
AbstractNew absorption bands are observed in the near‐infrared region in neutron‐irradiated and thermally bleached pure LiF crystals after aging. At low temperatures these bands show fine structures. The characteristics of these bands and lines and the factors affecting their growth are studied. From its growth behaviour and other properties, it is suggested that the 0.914 μm band is due to intrinsic defects. The other infrared bands are attributed to the intrinsic defects associated with tritium produced by the 6Li(n, α)3H nuclear reaction. The observed results are interpreted on the basis of this model.
