Description:
AbstractOrdered CrPt3 which has the AuCu3 type structure is known to be ferrimagnetic. The f.c.c. disordered CrPt, phase has been obtained by severe cold work and is found to behave as a paramagnet. Through thermomagnetic analysis and consideration of neighbours. this paramagnetism is tentatively ascribed to a kind of antiferrornagnetism. The forced disordered atomic arrangement results in a incoherent distribution of localized moments without apparent external moment. The magnetic properties of partially ordered samples have also been studied.
