  • Description:
Lyophilized glycerol pectate (lot 18) was tested as a plasma expander in 10 normovolemic and 10 acute oligemic, unanesthetized dogs. In all cases the hemodynamic responses were favorable and no untoward effects of the infusion solutions were noted. No difficulty in dissolution of the lyophilized lot 18 material was encountered. Approximately 20 minutes was required for reconstitution after the addition of the appropriate amount of isotonic saline solution to the lyophilized material. The physicochemical characteristics of lot 18 furnished by the manufacturer are compared with similar measurements made recently on the same lot of material by other investigators.
Note:
(With the Technical Assistance of Y.
